Energy giant bp has announced a new tech partnership with supplier Pure Planet, launching a digital energy service to support households, electric vehicle (EV) drivers and energy consumers.
The new platform offers smarter control of renewable home energy, EVs, batteries, smart heating and solar power. It is designed to help people manage their varied energy usage, providing personalised insights into their energy consumption both at home and on the move.
It will provide estimates of emissions savings, real-time energy usage data and car battery status for EV drivers, and the ability to link any car – including petrol and diesel – to the app to estimate CO2 emissions.
Additionally, the platform will provide recommendations for other sustainable solutions consumers can consider, such as smart thermostats.
“Future energy services are more dynamic, personal and digital” as well as low carbon, said Pure Planet co-founder and CEO, Andrew Ralston. The new service will help people manage their energy better, he continued, by giving them all the information.
“By deepening our relationship with bp, we’re creating Pure Planet 2.0. We’re building on our low carbon and green contribution to society by offering exciting new tech services and low carbon insights and are looking forward to sharing these with a wider audience.”
The service will initially be available to Pure Planet customers on the supplier’s app as well as online energy accounts from next month.
It follows the bp-backed company launching a new fixed tariff in May 2020, and teasing the launch of an EV and a Smart tariff to interact with solar and battery storage technologies.
bp’s senior vice president for zero carbon energy, Felipe Arbelaez, added that they were “delighted to partner with Pure Planet to develop this smart tech which can help inform smarter energy decisions”.
