EO Charging has secured a deal with Amazon to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers in support of its fleet electrification, with over 800 rolled out so far.
The EV charging firm today (16 April) revealed it has designed, manufactured and installed the network of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at UK Amazon sites.
The online retail giant said that while 800 chargers have been installed, there are plans for “hundreds more” to go in the ground.
Alongside the physical installations, EO Charging is also providing software and maintenance services for the entirety of Amazon’s electric fleet in Europe.
This is to support the addition of over 1,800 new zero-emission vehicles to its fleet as part of a partnership with Mercedes-Benz Vans, including over 500 e-vans for its delivery service providers and their drivers to deliver orders in the UK.
Charlie Jardine, CEO and founder of EO, said the collaboration has sustained the company’s growth “even during a pandemic”, with it also offering the opportunity to “reinvest in our technology and continue innovating”.
EO Charging has secured a number of partnerships for charging infrastructure rollouts over the past few years, being named the London EV Company’s (LEVC) official charging partner in Scotland in 2019, with this partnership seeing the company offer owners of LEVC’s electric taxi an EO Mini Pro.
The same year, it partnered with energy supplier Bulb and Suffolk County Council to launch what the trio claimed to be the country’s first “fully open” charging network. More recently, it joined forces with Octopus Electric Vehicles for an EV charging solution that bundled a Nissan Leaf with 8,000 miles per year, the EO Mini Smart Home charger and the Octopus Go tariff together.
