EVBox is to provide The Mobility House with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) hardware as part of a new partnership.
The hardware will be provided for any projects involving V2G implemented by The Mobility House. The combination of EVBox’s hardware and The Mobility House’s smart charging software will help “successfully pave the way for a new generation of mobility”, EVBox said.
The duo pointed to a project on the island of Porto Santo in Madeira Archipelago, Portugal, that EVBox has already provided bidirectional AC charging stations for.
The project – which is ongoing – started in 2018 with Groupe Renault, EEM, Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira, S.A and The Mobility House, and is aiming to improve the island’s sustainability by increasing the contribution of solar and wind generation to the island’s total electricity supply through intelligent integration of electric cars and second-life battery storage.
This fits hand-in-hand with The Mobility House’s goal of helping create an emission-free energy and mobility future by integrating vehicle batteries into the grid using intelligent charging and energy solutions.
It has developed the charging and energy management system ChargePilot to help achieve this, which optimises the interplay of electric cards, stationary second-life battery storage and V2G.
EVBox, meanwhile, is focusing in on V2G technology, having opened a renovated factory in November allowing the company to conduct R&D on technologies such as V2G.
