While short term barriers to vehicle-to-grid (V2G) tech still remain, new opportunities are arising from measures such as the introduction of market-wide half hourly settlement and the opening up of the Balancing Mechanism.
OVO Energy’s Project Sciurus – run alongside Cenex, Indra and Nissan – demonstrated the value that can be achieved from using domestic electric vehicles for V2G, including playing into the FFR and demand response markets.
In the most recent Current± Briefings webinar, Current± caught up with Chris Russell, managing director of OVO Drive, to discuss the project and how the potential for scaling up V2G “feels imminent”.
The next Current± Briefings will be announced soon, keep an eye on Current± for more information.
