Juliet Davenport is to focus on the continued expansion of her portfolio career in the energy industry as she announces her intention to not stand for reelection at this year’s Annual General Meeting.
Davenport founded Good Energy in 1999, and has spent just over a year as a non-executive director, having stepped down as CEO in April 2021.
It was later announced that Nigel Pocklington would be taking over as CEO, while earlier this year he also took over from Davenport as chair of Zap-Map.
Commenting on today’s (20 May) announcement, Pocklington said it was both “daunting and an honour” to pick up the baton from Davenport.
“I want to thank her not only for her contribution as a director over the past year but for laying the foundations of a business over the previous 20, which is now fit for the future.”
Since stepping down as Good Energy CEO, Davenport has joined the board of Connected Kerb as a non-executive director as well as joining energy storage business Gravitricity as an advisor to the board.
She is also the host of the Great Green Questions podcast, while her book – The Green Start-Up – is to be published in October.
“I will always cherish Good Energy — its people, customers and investors. We built something together that remains truly different and have shown that renewables are to be reckoned with,” Davenport said.
“The past year has been an extremely turbulent one in energy, but it has been heartening to see the business navigate the crisis well whilst continuing to build on its mission and strategy under Nigel’s leadership. I believe it has a promising future, continuing to help drive the energy transition.”
