National Grid Renewables’ Daniel Westerman is to step down in April as he takes a new job in Australia.
Westerman, who is currently chief transformation officer and president of British Energy Company National Grid’s Renewable Energy arm will become CEO of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), starting his new role in May.
He will be replaced in by Blake Nixon, who is currently head of US Onshore Renewables for National Grid Renewables.
“Blake will oversee all competitive renewable energy activity in the US for the company, including our efforts in large-scale solar, wind and battery storage,” National Grid told Current± in a statement.
“Blake joined National Grid in July 2019 when the company acquired Geronimo Energy (now National Grid Renewables), and since then, National Grid Renewables has announced approximately 638 MW of contracted projects and 270 MW of operational projects. The company also has a robust pipeline of renewable energy projects under development across the country.”
Nixon will officially become president of National Grid Renewables from April 1, 2021.
National Grid Renewables is part of National Grid Ventures, itself a division of the UK operator National Grid. It has developed a portfolio of solar, wind, and energy storage projects located throughout the United States.
