NewMotion, alongside its US-based counterpart Greenlots, is to be brought under the Shell Recharge Solutions brand from early 2022.
This rebrand is aiming to tie together Shell’s global electric vehicle (EV) charging offering under one identity, benefitting from NewMotion’s experience in home charging and roaming services and Greenlot’s experience with charging networks and fleet services.
Once the rebrand has been completed, Shell Recharge Solutions is also to capitalise on the rapid expansion achieved by NewMotion in Europe, with this including a 265% year-on-year growth in its roaming network in the UK.
NewMotion currently has roaming agreements in place with companies such as Mer, Osprey, Vattenfall, ChargePoint and Char.gy.
As Shell Recharge Solutions, the company is to continue to facilitate the transition to electric mobility, with the team providing Shell Recharge branded hardware and software services for home and business, while also supporting the Shell Recharge public charging network and providing existing white label solutions.
“The upcoming brand change will help Shell to move our electric charging capability and offer from local to global; we will unify our brand, our people, and our capabilities across Europe, Asia and North America, ensuring we are better placed to provide our customers with the EV charging solutions they need,” said Roger Hunter, vice president Shell Electric Mobility.
NewMotion was acquired by Shell in 2017, with the O&G major having launched the Shell Recharge brand the same year as an on-forecourt EV charging service.
