Elisabeth Brinton is to take charge at Shell New Energies, it was announced today (10 January 2020).

Brinton is to take over as executive vice president of Shell New Energies on 1 April 2020.

The baton is being passed from Mark Gainsborough, who has been at the helm since the creation of Shell New Energies in mid-2016.

Brinton is currently the global vice president of strategy and portfolio at Shell New Energies, having held the role since 2018.

She thanked the outgoing Gainsborough in a post on social media site LinkedIn for his “guidance, support and momentous contribution throughout a distinguished career with Shell”.

Shell New Energies has been busy making a variety of investments and acquisitions as of late, most recently with the purchase of a minority stake in solar firm d.light.

The unit also acquired energy tech firm Limejump and German battery storage manufacturer sonnen in February.
