InstaVolt is to deploy its fastest charger units to date across all future installations, including its McDonalds and Costa Coffee rollouts.

It marks the first time a BYD charger has been imported into Europe. The units have one CCS and one CHAdeMO connector each, allowing two cars to be charged at once.

They are capable of adding 100 miles of range in 15 minutes, and reducing the charging time from 0-60% from 40 minutes with a standard 50kW charger to 20 minutes.

Following on from the introduction of the 120kW units, InstaVolt intends to bring even faster chargers of 150kW to the market this financial year.

Adrian Keen, chief executive officer of InstaVolt, said: “Offering new and improved public charging technology across the UK is vital to increase the uptake of EVs. Being able to deliver even quicker charging speeds, while also maintaining excellent reliability is what drives InstaVolt forward."

Earlier this year, the company launched a new app to help combat range anxiety, with this including a live map of its charging network, a loyalty scheme that allows drivers to earn credits when they charge and the ability to track charging history.
