Energy technology firm Origami has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of a new chief operating officer.

Peter Simmonds will step into the role and will be immediately tasked with preparing the company for further growth worldwide.

He joins from San Francisco-based advertising management company Marin Software, which optimises digital marketing campaigns across various social media outlets and publishers, where he was responsible for leading the delivery Marin’s B2B software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms.

Simmonds also served as head of global product delivery at online gambling firm Betfair, where he led on the operator’s move to continuous software delivery, resulting in a reduced time to market for Betfair’s consumer-facing products.

Peter Bance, chief executive at Origami, said Simmonds’ experience at SaaS organisations would be “crucial” to the next stage of the company’s growth.

Simmonds now completes Origami’s five-strong leadership team which, alongside Bance, comprises chief technology officer Steve Hirst, value delivery director Günther Puffer and commercial director Spencer Rigler.
