OVO Energy has hired Christina Scott as its new chief product and technology officer, praising her more than 20 years of experience.
Scott is to lead OVO’s technology and product teams to provide intelligent energy technology solutions in support of the decarbonisation of UK homes.
She previously held a CTO role at News UK, being responsible for overseeing technology, data and product teams as well as leading the emerging technology practice for News Corp globally.
Prior to this, Scott was chief product and information officer at the Financial Times, and also has experience at companies such as the BBC and Accenture. She specialises in digital transformation and building high performance teams to deliver business value, OVO said.
“Christina’s expertise in technology coupled with her knowledge of creating market leading consumer products will be instrumental to OVO in our next chapter,” Adrian Letts, CEO of OVO, said.
Her appointment comes alongside other recent senior hires, including Dr Rebecca Heaton as director of sustainability, Joe Gordon as VP of customer care, Simon Maine as director of corporate affairs and Chris Russell as managing director of OVO Drive.
Russell spoke in a recent Current± Briefings webinar looking at vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. He detailed how the introduction of a market-wide half hourly settlement, the opening up of the Balancing Mechanism and a significant code review being implemented from 2023 represent new opportunities for V2G.
