Technology solutions supplier Pilot Group has announced its partnership with Dent Council to supply and install six electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints at a public car park in the village of Laning, Cumbria.
The three-year contract awarded to the Pilot Group will see chargepoints installed alongside three photocell-operated bollard lights. This will improve safety and accessibility to the chargepoint by illuminating the surrounding area. A contactless payment mechanism will also be included to enhance the efficiency of the chargepoints.
To provide additional value to the community, the chargers will supply revenue and publicity opportunities for local businesses by displaying advertising. The council will also be able to review usage and income statistics of the chargepoints using back-office software access.
“The convenience of contactless payment solutions and well-lit charge points mean we are offering a unique service for our community, and one that is crucial as more and more people turn to driving electric vehicles,” said Scott Thornley, clerk and RFO at Dent with Cowgill Parish Council.
“We’re excited to have brought something new to Laning and will hopefully continue our relationship with Pilot Group into the future.”
The announcement shows the Pilot Group continuing to promote EV charging across the UK. Earlier this month the organisation also installed a double EV charge point for British accessories retailer Radley London.
With the continued roll out of EV infrastructure across the UK having seen over half a million EVs by the end of June this year, it is necessary for EV chargepoints to experience similar growth. Zap-Map recently confirmed that 1,100 EV charging hubs had been installed across the UK this September.
