Pod Point has announced a new three-year partnership with the developer and manager of retirement communities, McCarthy Stone, to install electric vehicle (EV) chargers on new developments.
The chargepoint company – recognised this month as the second largest EV chargepoint provider in the UK according to Zap-Map’s statistics – will provide each parking space on new McCarthy Stone developments with EV home chargers.
McCarthy Stone has planned to expand its portfolio of retirement communities by 60 new developments per year to meet anticipated demand.
The partnership means that McCarthy Stone’s new developments will adhere to the building regulation updates from June this year, which mandated that all new residential properties with parking spaces in England are required to include at least one 7kW chargepoint.
Responding to the announcement, Anne Smales, group commercial director at McCarthy Stone said: “We are committed to reducing energy use and carbon emissions in our existing and future estates, and across our business. In Pod Point, we have found a partner who in terms of its reputation and track record, we feel is well placed to support our sustainability goals and to help us deliver great and sustainable places for our customers to live.”
CEO at Pod Point, Erik Fairbairn, echoed Smales’ enthusiasm stating that the company was “delighted” to have been chosen as the retirement home developer’s preferred chargepoint supplier.
Pod Point has announced a number of partnerships this year including with the investment firm Custodian REIT, to install rapid EV chargepoint at 12 sites. A three-year partnership was also signed with Pendragon Vehicle Management making Pod point the fleet management business’ first preferred chargepoint supplier.
