RenewableUK has revealed its next chief executive, with Dan McGrail to take up the post in May.
McGrail is currently CEO of Siemens Engines, having joined Siemens in 2004. He led plans to develop and invest in offshore wind turbine manufacturing in the UK between 2010 and 2014 and was appointed CEO in 2017, leading the rebranding of the company.
“RenewableUK’s members are driving the energy transition faster than anyone could have predicted, from our world-leading offshore wind industry to onshore wind and innovative marine power, energy storage and renewable hydrogen,” McGrail said, adding he is “very excited” to be taking up the role.
McGrail is also vice-chair of the Association for Decentralised Energy and served as chair of the association from 2016-2019. In addition, he set up the Heat Network Industry Council to engage politicians and driver policy reform to build zero carbon heat networks.
RenewableUK’s current chief executive Hugh McNeal said: “RenewableUK is delivering for our members and I’m confident that it will go from strength to strength with Dan in charge.
