Delivery firm DPD has appointed Rolec EV for the rollout of charge points across 60 UK sites as it continues its EV expansion.
Over 600 chargers are planned to be installed in preparation for an influx of DPD electric vehicles. The company is to introduce 550 EVs to its fleet by 2021, with 100 of those EVs being introduced this year.
Rolec’s cloud based back office smart system, EV GroupManager, will be used to allow DPD to monitor and record all EV charging activity, historical data and vehicle migration. The system works in conjunction with Rolec’s SecuriCharge charging units and a pre-issued EV driver RFID keyfob.
DPD has been slowly ramping up its commitment to electric vehicles, having announced its intention to open eight all-electric micro-depots in London. It opened its third all-electric micro-depot in March this year.
Mark Wilkes, director of technical services at DPD UK, said the firm is aiming to be the most responsible city centre delivery company in the UK and is fully supportive of the electric vehicle revolution.
