Pod Point to build clean future with Kier Group
Pod Point has signed a three year supply deal with construction group Kier in a deal that will cover the firm’s offices and potentially even the homes of its employees.
Installations will take place across the UK, including six twin 7kW charge points at its UK headquarters in Sandy, Bedfordshire, following several successful trials of electric vans for its commercial fleet.
Keen to support the take-up of electric vehicles among its employees, the supply deal with Pod Point will also assist in the deployment of domestic chargers.
Anthony Parish, group director of fleet for Kier, said: “More and more of our workforce are interested in and opting to drive electric cars and we are delighted to support this movement by working with Pod Point as one of our preferred suppliers to install charging points across the country.
“We are committed to offering travel solutions that enable our diverse business and workforce to conduct its work in an environmentally responsible manner and it supports our overall company vision and strategy to reduce our use of energy 30%, by 2030.”
Instavolt signs up two new clients as installation figures grow
Fast DC charging provider Instavolt has started installations with two new customers in forecourt company GoFuels and developer Frasers Property as the company’s deployment continues to gather pace.
The first charger for GoFuels has been switched on at its site in Horwich forecourt, with another two being installed at its site in Worsley, Manchester, while InstaVolt is to install its 50kW charging stations at Frasers’ Watchmoor Park and Winnersh Triangle business parks.
This follows completed installations at the Chineham Park site in Basingstoke, where more than 800 charging sessions have been recorded.
Tim Payne, chief executive of InstaVolt, said: “Our work with Frasers Property in Basingstoke has proven so successful that we’re delighted to roll out more chargers for the company across the UK. What’s great news is that they’ll be available for the local community to use too, so they’ll have a wide impact on the communities surrounding the business parks.”
Drivers are able to charge up on a pay-as-you-go basis outside of a subscription or membership model at the chargers, which are installed free of charge to clients who also receive a rental income from Instavolt.
Salim Patel, director at GoFuels, said: “It made perfect sense to partner with InstaVolt. It meant we could broaden our offering and cater for electric car drivers without that capital expenditure. It’s freed up that money for investment in other projects.”
Since launching back in late 2016, Instavolt has deployed almost 400 charge points under its supply deal with ChargePoint. CEO and president of the US market leader Pasquale Romano last week set a target to deploy 2.5 million EV charge points by 2025 with the UK targeted as a key market.
