Siemens has seen a shakeup of personnel as current-CEO Joe Kaeser looks to step into the role of chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens Energy.
It was announced that Kaeser is not pursuing a further contract extension as president and CEO of Siemens AG – his current role – and is now to be proposed as chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens Energy, with Roland Busch appointed his replacement.
Kaeser will assume responsibility within the Managing Board for Siemens Energy, including Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, effective immediately, the company said.
Busch, who is currently deputy CEO, is additionally assuming the overarching responsibility for Operating Companies Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure and Mobility from 1 April 2020. His appointment as CEO and President will be effective at the end of the next ordinary Annual Shareholder’s meeting on 3 February 2021.
Siemens Energy is also to see a new designated CEO, with Christian Bruch to become the new CEO of both the Gas and Power Operating Company and designated CEO of Siemens Energy from 1 May 2020. Maria Ferraro is to be Siemens Energy’s new CFO, also effective from 1 May 2020.
Klaus Patzak – Siemens Energy’s current CFO – and Michael Sen – the current designated CEO – are to leave the company by mutual agreement, Siemens said, although Sen is to remain available as an adviser until spring 2021.
It comes as Siemens looks to set the course for establishing “the next generation of management”, making these decisions – which it describes as “pivotal” – at a meeting yesterday (19 March 2020).
Jim Hageman Snabe, chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens AG, said: “I’m very pleased that, through the decisions that it made today, the Siemens Supervisory Board will be strengthening the Siemens Energy leadership team substantially and has decided on the succession process for the top leadership of Siemens AG even faster than originally planned.”
