Smart Metering Systems (SMS) has launched a new end-to-end EV chargepoint infrastructure solution to enable businesses to establish, manage and grow charging networks.
The solution provides businesses with a full life cycle proposition, from the initial consultancy and design of electrical infrastructure to technology procurement, installation and ongoing operation and maintenance.
SMS stated this will be as a fully funded or part-funded service helping to lower the financial barrier that is currently faced by organisations when deploying technology at scale.
“We believe that encouraging and enabling interoperability across the UK’s EV chargepoint network is essential to helping create the best possible experience for drivers, which will in turn improve general uptake of EVs and ultimately help strengthen the business case for investing in chargepoint infrastructure,” said Guy Bartlett, managing director of SMS Energy Services division.
“We also believe that cost should not stand in the way of businesses who wish to benefit from the many commercial and environmental advantages made available by EV charging assets. We’re proud therefore to offer the marketplace our funded solutions that remove one of the major obstacles to asset investment.”
SMS has also signed a partnership with Clenergy EV to offer access to its chargepoint management software that allows organisations to both manage and monitor various aspects of its charging network. This can be achieved via an Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant platform.
SMS recently disclosed it has seen solid growth across the first half of 2022 with the company citing in its half year results that the run rate for smart meter installations increased to over 40,000 per month since Q2 2022.
SMS’s financial results revealed that since the start of Q2 2022, the run rate for smart meter installations has increased to over 40,000 per month (FY 2021: c.30,000 meters average per month).
There is also a strong growth predicted for the company’s smart meter installations with a contracted smart meter order pipeline at 30 June 2022 of c.2.42 million.
