SSEN has published its System Wide Resource Register (SWRR), aiming to help stakeholders and customers identify opportunities and constraints.
The register details all generation, storage and flexible demand resources that are providing services, are equal to or greater than 1MW and are connected to or accepted to connect to SSEN’s network.
It enables customers and stakeholders to understand opportunities and constraints in the network, SSEN said, therefore assisting in informed decision making and supporting innovation. It will be updated monthly, with no registration required to access the register.
Stewart Reid, head of future networks at SSEN, described the SWRR as “an important step forward” in the transition towards a smarter, open and flexible energy system.
“As an industry we are acting now to ensure access to data and maintain a dialogue with our stakeholders to understand how we can continue to improve access and make opportunities easy to understand,” Reid continued.
The register is a key deliverable of the Energy Networks Association’s (ENA) Open Networks Project, SSEN said. The aim of the wider Open Networks Project is to make the energy industry more transparent and accessible, supporting the delivery of a smarter, flexible energy system.
SSEN revealed its digital strategy in December 2019, putting a heavy focus on open data, with the strategy taking the recommendations from the Energy Data Taskforce into account. SSEN is currently consulting on its strategy.
In January 2020, the DNO won £343,000 from Ofgem’s Network Innovation Allowance for its Regional Energy System Optimisation Planning (RESOP) project, which is to support knowledge sharing between network operators and stakeholders.
