Energy start-up OnGen has launched a new energy assessment tool aimed at UK businesses with the help of a £250,000 investment.
The online platform has been designed for public sector organisations, SMEs with intensive energy demands and farmers as a means of gaining greater insight into their energy demand.
This information can then be used to create feasibility studies for energy efficiency works and other low-carbon technologies.
OnGen has been designed by Chris Trigg, Andrew Bright and Jonny Clark, who together have decades of experience of the energy market.
Trigg, managing director at OnGen, said that renewables can still make sense for businesses despite their government subsidies having been “reduced radically” over the last 12 months.
“It can be hard to make these decisions if a business is not well versed in the costs and benefits of different sources of energy,” he said.
The company is now seeking to expand and enhance on its platform, and is to launch a second investment round to fund additions to the OnGen team.
OnGen’s launch comes amidst a recent flurry in activity of energy companies either entering or expanding their operations in the energy management space.
Last week ‘Big Six’ utility SSE announced the launch of its own Energy Performance Certificate-based programme, while in May Centrica announced the creation of a UK-focused decentralised energy division through the £145 million purchase of ENER-G.
