​With temperatures dipping, the last week has presented the first real challenges of the winter period to National Grid ESO. Octopus Energy has confirmed its second “Saving Sessions” trial saw customers reduce their energy demand by a collective 112MW.

“When we look at the forecast from now to 2050, we're looking at a doubling of electrical demand from a few hundred-terawatt hours to over 600TWh,” said Barry Hurst, head of business development at Enel X.

The first alert for National Grid ESO’s demand flexibility service has been confirmed for 15 November between 17:00 and 18:00.
