The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has published its Renewable Energy Statistics 2024 report, showing a record 14% year-on-year growth in installed renewable power capacity from 2022 to 2023.

​Over 260GW of renewable energy capacity was added worldwide in 2020, beating the previous record set in 2019 by almost 50%.

Limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5°C by 2050 will require countries around the world to accelerate their efforts towards the energy transition “without delay” and scale up the development of clean energy resources at unprecedented levels, a new report has said.

​Around the world, more than half of renewable capacity additions in 2019 had lower electricity costs than their fossil fuel counterparts.
