The appeals submission window has opened for the fourth allocation round (AR4) of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme.
Applicants who were unsuccessful in their initial submission for the auction scheme were told by National Grid ESO on 25 March 2022.
They can now appeal this, with the appeals submission window opening yesterday (28 March) and closing on 1 April at 5pm.
Any requests for appeal from organisations that did not qualify will then be considered by Ofgem between 12 April and 12 May 2022.
AR4 opened for bids in December, with a target of 12GW of electricity capacity set to gain £285 million of funding.
The initial auction closed on 14 January and winners are slated to be announced in Spring/Summer, the government has said.
It is the first auction to allow pot one technologies such as onshore wind and solar since the CfDs were initially launched back in 2015. From March 2023 the auctions will be held annually as part of government efforts to accelerate the switch to renewable energy.
The CfD scheme is widely considered a success for the UK energy sector, and amid high power prices in recent months has even begun paying back millions of pounds.
