Facilities solutions provider ABM UK has made a strategic move into electric vehicle charging infrastructure after agreeing a deal with global manufacturer and network operator ChargePoint.
ABM UK will distribute the charging solutions, utilising its 450 specially-trained electrical engineers to install and maintain the units at both domestic and commercial locations.
As a specialist in technical, electrical, critical, cleaning, security, and HVAC services, and with clients including The O2 Arena, Transport for London (TfL) and Hammerson, ABM UK says the move into the EV charging infrastructure market will enable it to further strengthen its services’ offering.
Jason Pease, technical solutions managing director at ABM UK, said: “The UK’s EV infrastructure market has huge growth potential, and it’s an area that ABM UK wants to be an integral part of, and have a say in shaping the future of.
“We believe that our experience in the retail sector and growing client base will help ChargePoint to realise its expansion objectives in the UK, and we are looking forward to working alongside and representing the brand over the coming years.”
Since signing its first UK supply deal with Instavolt back in May, ChargePoint has continued to grow its presence. Its chargers have been selected by Motor Fuel Group as part of the roll out of EV infrastructure at over 400 petrol stations nationwide, while the company will also be providing back up services to TfL’s own installations.
These advances in Europe follow the success of the company worldwide where over 43,500 of its chargers have been installed, most notably in North America where ChargePoint has been working with ABM since 2011.
Chris Burghardt, managing director at ChargePoint in Europe, said: “ChargePoint has a decade of experience developing class-leading charging solutions, with a firm commitment to help build the most comprehensive network of EV charging in Europe.
“As we grow, it’s exciting to extend our partnership with ABM, whom we’ve had a close relationship with over many years in the United States. ABM UK’s deep experience in the market, coupled with its demonstrated capabilities in markets globally helps us as we aggressively grow our business in the region.”
