The Electricity North West Group is to expand its operations, launching a new subsidiary to support the North East.
Electricity North East (Construction & Maintenance) will provide high and low voltage construction and maintenance services to companies that operate private high voltage electricity networks.
This includes providing construction services to businesses looking to install generation such as solar PV, behind-the-meter gas engines or fuel cells. A growing sector as businesses look to protect themselves from rising energy costs and decarbonise their operations.
It will support customers across Yorkshire, Teesside and Northumberland and be based in Middlesbrough.
“We have continued to support businesses outside the North West, and now by launching this dedicated business, this highlights our ambition to develop into a national service provider in the power engineering sector,” Jim Hallas, customer solutions director of Electricity North East, said.
“Many of our existing customers operate nationally and we are keen to grow our services so we can give them the same excellent service across the UK.”
Already the Electricity North West Group has worked on several construction projects in Teesside, and is working to prioritise the development of a local supplier base while it organically grows its local workforce.
