A new energy and carbon saving service has been launched to help manufacturers save money and improve their sustainability credentials.
EEF, the manufacturer’s organisation, is offering a range of solutions and potential funding opportunities through its new Energy Services initiative, which has been designed to help members lower their energy consumption and carbon emissions of its members.
The service has been designed for EEF’s 20,000 member companies but is also available to those not affiliated with the organisation. It brings EEF’s sustainability solutions under one umbrella, offering a specialist consultancy team alongside ISO50001 implementation, managed metering services, energy efficiency, carbon and energy compliance and professional training.
Speaking to Clean Energy News earlier today, a spokesperson for EEF explained that funding opportunities would also be available and decided on a case-by-case basis. This is also the case for other levels of support, which will be driven by the client’s requirements. However, EEF’s representative added that it could provide support from quote to completion, which could include project management support and onsite installation.
James Wyse, national sustainability lead at EEF, said: “We’re excited about the launch of Energy Services as it’s the first time we’ve pulled all our energy, environment and sustainability services together to provide businesses with one cohesive, comprehensive and complete view.
“It’s an important step because sustainability is of growing strategic importance to businesses but remains a challenging and complicated area. There is a pressing need to manage risks and harness opportunities, but very few firms have the in-house skills and knowledge to do this.
“By bringing all our services under one umbrella we can provide a more holistic and seamless service, while also making it easier for companies to understand what expertise they actually need to tackle their own particular concerns.”
EEF claims energy affordability is a concern for over 80% of manufacturers, with associated costs representing over 6% of total turnover for over a quarter of UK manufacturing companies.
To address these concerns, EEF has added managed metering services to its offering in light of the launch of its Energy Services division. This service is designed to help firms tackle what EEF calls ‘unnecessarily high’ energy costs by identifying where and why energy waste occurs.
EEF’s Energy Services was launched on 9 June with a free diagnostic session offered to companies signing up within at least the first three months of the scheme, at which point this offer will be reviewed.
