Energy UK has confirmed that Audrey Gallacher will be taking the reins at the trade body on an interim basis when Lawrence Slade steps down later this month.
Slade, who is to stand down after more than five years as chief executive, will be replaced by Gallacher until a more permanent successor is in place.
Gallacher is currently the trade body’s director of policy and has served at Energy UK for four years. She has also held directorships at charity Citizens Advice and at statutory watchdog Consumer Futures, having started her career in energy as Ofgem’s head of consumer affairs in Scotland.
Lord John Hutton, chair at Energy UK, said the trade body knows it cannot afford to stand still at a crucial time for the energy sector.
“Having Audrey in place, means it will still be business as usual for Energy UK as we prepare for a busy period which could include a new government, a White Paper, continuing challenges for the retail sector and of course, the drive to meet the net-zero target. Our sector will play an integral role in this transformation and the work needs to start now,” he said.
A further announcement on a permanent successor for Slade is to be made in due course.
