“One of the largest EV charging park installations” has been delivered by EQUANS to a NatWest office in Edinburgh, the company said.
Consisting of 264 sockets, the installation uses 7.4kW Alfen dual socket chargers which are powered by EQUANS GeniePoint platform. This will allow NatWest employees, customers and visitors to charge their EVs at the office providing greater accessibility for drivers.
EQUANS – the brand for ENGIE’s services led activities – secured a five-year deal to supply, commission and operate a network of chargers for NatWest late last year.
As part of the partnership, a total of 600 sockets are to be in place by 2023, with these to be accessible to staff, visitors and customers at NatWest offices using the EQUANS GeniePoint network, with ENGIE also owning the GeniePoint network.
The installation at the Edinburgh offices is the fruition of this partnership with more set to be developed in the coming months.
“We’re delighted to have installed one of the largest EV car park charging installations in the UK for NatWest. The chargers will provide convenient charging for NatWest colleagues, customers and visitors at Gogarburn, helping to remove barriers to EV adoption and supporting others in the transition to EV,” said Dee Humphries, director of EV Solutions at EQUANS UK and Ireland.
“The installation marks a significant achievement for EQUANS, as we continue to support one of the UK’s biggest banks with their journey to electric vehicles. It’s fantastic to see NatWest setting an example for others to adopt more sustainable transport measures, and this installation is a testament to their commitment to a greener future.”
To date, a total of 325 sockets have been installed by EQUANS for NatWest with locations having been strategically selected where demand is high and power is readily available.
The partnership not only enables NatWest to support its employees to make the switch to EV, but also transition to a fleet of 300 EVs for its own business operations.
EQUANS revealed last year that it had installed 85 free-to-use EV chargepoints situated in West Yorkshire. The aim of this was to encourage EV drivers in the region to make the switch to an EV, with West Yorkshire Combined Authority securing almost £2 million from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) in 2019.
Earlier this year, over 900 EV chargers were added to Bonnet’s platform as part of a new partnership with EQUANS. This was the fifteenth chargepoint operator (CPO) to be added to Bonnet’s roster, with over 32,000 chargepoint locations having been on the app at the time.
