Ecotricity’s Electric Highway MD Simon Crowfoot revealed last week that the decision to start charging drivers using the network can only recoup some of the losses of maintaining the infrastructure.
With associated costs making it difficult for any charging network to reach the level needed for future electric vehicle deployment forecasts, he added that it had proved to be a money loser for private business, with Ecotricity only continuing due to its committment to increasing EV deployment.
