EVBox has partnered online parking platform YourParkingSpace to offer electric vehicle (EV) drivers pre-bookable park and charge spaces across the UK.
The parking platform will establish the pre-bookable spaces at retail and hospitality locations with the idea of ensuring drivers are never more than 20 minutes away from an available chargepoint. The initiative will help to provide drivers with the “peace of mind” that a chargepoint is available upon arrival.
It follows a trial at the Holiday Inn Express in Bicester, where five EVBox chargepoints are installed. A further 200 EVBox business chargepoints are to be installed as part of the YourParkingSpace partnership at Holiday Inn owner Atlas Hotels’ sites.
Drivers will be able to book and pay in advance for parking spaces through the YourParkingSpace app, with EVBox’s intelligent charging management software integrated into this app.
Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace, said the partnership – which he described as “groundbreaking” – is aiming to offer “the widest choice of pre-bookable EV park and charge spaces in the UK, with drivers always being within a short drive of one”.
The news of the partnership follows EVBox launching the Everon Business Portal in February, offering real-time insights into charging station health, charging patterns and energy consumption of EVs.
The platform is targeted specifically at fleet and site managers, with an aim of allowing them to make better-informed decisions and optimise their EV infrastructure based on data insights.
Commenting on the new partnership, Jonathan Goose, regional director UK & Ireland at EVBox Group, said it will “address the growing demand for EV charging ports, while ushering in a new era of commercial charging in the UK”.
