EV charging manufacturer Pod Point has penned an exclusive partnership agreement with the European supermarket which will see it install and operate rapid EV chargers, providing free charging bays for its customers.
Pod Point will install triple standard rapid charge points which are capable of providing an 80% charge to an electric vehicle within 30 minutes.
Lidl said the charging bays would be free to use for customers until further notice.
Erik Fairbairn, chief executive of Pod Point, said the partnership with Lidl was an “important element” in the wider rollout of its Open Charge Network infrastructure.
“While most electric vehicle charging happens where drivers live and work, we know that a fast, reliable public charging network is also a vital component – and a real shop window for EV.
“We’re excited to be working with Lidl to ensure its customers get a faster and better charging service,” he added.
