NewMotion has teamed up with Osprey Charging as the duo sign a roaming agreement.
The partnership adds Osprey’s 259 rapid connections to NewMotion’s public charging network, with the latter having over 3,000 charging locations in the UK.
Osprey – formerly known as Engenie – has made a number of agreements with other chargepoint operators and service providers to facilitate greater interoperability, including signing up to Octopus Energy’s Electric Juice and partnering Allstar for a fleet charging payment card.
NewMotion, too, has signed a significant number of roaming agreements, including with Vattenfall, ChargePoint and Char.gy. It currently collaborates with over 200 partner charging networks, offering drivers access to over 155,000 chargepoints across 35 European countries.
The two companies are also signed up to Hubject’s international intercharge network, a platform for B2B interoperability services boasting over 740 worldwide partners, which is facilitating the new partnership.
“It’s great to see roaming partnerships are becoming the norm here in the UK as our EV market continues to mature and the need for easy access to charging infrastructure grows,” Alan McCleave, UK general manager of NewMotion, said.
“Drivers value fast charging when they are on the go, and together we can now offer a first class charging experience whether drivers are at work, home or out and about.”
Osprey offers 50kW DC chargepoints, with plans to start offering higher power chargers “soon”. The company’s CEO, Ian Jonston, said that whilst Osprey offers contactless payment on its chargepoints, “we appreciate and embrace the added benefits to customers that belonging to a reliably connected roaming service brings”.
