Habitat Energy is set to optimise a 18MW battery energy storage asset near Manchester.
This is the second UK-based battery asset owned by French company RGREEN INVEST. The Gipsy Lane site was developed by Masdar Arlington Energy and went live earlier this month. Masdar Arlington sold the asset to RGREEN, but will continue to manage it.
Habitat will now optimise the battery across ancillary services and wholesale markets.
Battery energy storage can offer a range of benefits such as flexibility to the energy grid. It can also be used as a method to store energy from intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
“We have been working with Habitat Energy since the outset and their advice has been instrumental throughout this project’s development, from negotiating warranties to bringing the battery to market,” said Matthew Clare, CEO of Masdar Arlington Energy.
Habitat Energy was acquired by Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners in November 2021. It also signed an agreement with Glidepath Power Solutions last year to expand into the US market via battery optimisation services.
Energy-Storage.news’ publisher Solar Media will host the eighth annual Energy Storage Summit EU in London, 22-23 February 2023. This year it is moving to a larger venue, bringing together Europe’s leading investors, policymakers, developers, utilities, energy buyers and service providers all in one place.
