NewMotion has become the latest to join Octopus Energy’s Electric Juice Network, adding thousands of chargers across the UK and Europe.
Electric Juice customers can now access the company’s chargers, including a growing number of rapid charging at Shell Recharge, with NewMotion celebrating passing the 200,000 charger mark in March.
In particular, the partnership will include chargers in Germany, which is a strategic focus for Octopus, with the company opening an international office in the country in November 2020.
Alan McCleave, regional manager UK and Nordics at NewMotion, said e-mobility partnerships like this were a key aspect of “the enablement of mass EV adoption, that’s why we partner with many different parties in our European roaming charging network”.
“We’re part of the Shell group, which recently announced that by 2025 there will be over 30,000 Shell Recharge charge points.”
NewMotion joins the likes of IONITY, Char.gy, Hubsta, Alfa Power, Franklin Energy LiFe, Plug-N-Go and Osprey as part of the Electric Juice Network. The roaming service allows drivers to charge using integrated chargepoints from these operators but pay with their Octopus Energy account, simplifying the process.
Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Electric Juice, said by offering access to Shell Recharge and NewMotion chargers, the company’s plans for mainland Europe are “becoming even more tangible”.
“Europe’s transport sector needs to decarbonise quickly. Collaborating with more partners helps create better access to charging infrastructure, which makes it easier for petrol car drivers to consider electric vehicles and simplifies the whole process for current EV drivers.”
The announcement comes in the week Octopus Electric Vehicles launched a new leasing company that offers an 100% electric salary sacrifice scheme.
