UK electric vehicle (EV) charging firm Ohme has signed a deal with Volvo that sees it takes its first steps into the European market.
Ohme will offer the vehicle manufacturer’s EV customers smart charging solutions, with its flagship intelligent portable charger to be available to both SMEs and larger customers via all 60 Volvo retail dealerships in Benelux.
The partnership will also see the dealerships offer customers Ohme’s digital fleet management platform, which processes the wide range of data captured by the chargers and delivers insights to fleet customers.
In the UK, Ohme’s fleet dashboard has already been included in a bundle launched by Octopus Electric Vehicles in 2020 in partnership with Alfen and FLEETCOR.
In January 2021, the company also launched a new app targeted at home charging that utilises time of use tariffs to allow EV owners to choose the cheapest charging times.
Ohme’s smart chargers are Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and therefore able to communicate with the car and the driver so they can easily set preferences and control charging remotely via this mobile app.
This latest deal with Volvo follows the company last week announcing it is to provide smart charging technology for Octopus Energy’s Electric Dreams salary sacrifice scheme.
