More than 1.1 million properties benefited from the installation of energy efficiency measures in February 2015, according to the latest statistics released by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
The latest figures reveal that 1,437,000 energy efficiency measures were installed across 1,159,000 properties through a combination of Energy Company Obligation (ECO), Cashback, Green Deal (GD) plans, and the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF).
Almost all of the measures (97%) were installed under the ECO scheme. The government’s flagship Green Deal scheme saw 27,450 assessments lodged in March – a fall of 3% from February’s number.
It emerged on Wednesday that the week ending 19 April saw the highest number of Green Deal plan applications ever, with households applying for £2.5 million in support. The Green Deal Finance Company says that its record-breaking week has pushed the total number of Green Deal plans both pending and live up to £45.6 million.
In the run up to the election, the Labour Party has promised to make energy efficiency a national infrastructure priority if it is successful in the election.
