Roisin Quinn has stepped down as head of national control to pursue a new role in the National Grid Group, with Isabelle Haigh to takeover from spring 2021.
Due to the need to avoid any conflicts of interest, Quinn has left her current role in advance, although she will continue to work on some specific, non-conflicted projects in the ESO until she leaves next year.
Rob Rome is to take up the role of head of national control on an interim basis, having most recently been overseeing Performance Transformation & Control Systems in National Control.
Haigh – who will then takeover in spring 2021 – currently heads up Gas Transmission’s Plant Operations, having joined National Grid after graduating in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She has held a number of senior leadership roles across electricity and gas, and became the first female power system engineer in Birmingham Grid Control early in her career.
Julian Leslie – who has also previously held the role of head of national control – is to take on the role of ESO chief engineer, replacing Quinn. Leslie has worked at National Grid for 28 years in a number of senior leadership roles, and is currently head of networks.
Writing on National Grid ESO’s website, director Fintan Slye said that these are “exciting times” and a period of “incredible progress” in the energy industry and that he’d “like to congratulate Isabelle and Ro on their new roles and wish Rob and Jools all the best in their new positions”.
