Shell has agreed a plan with IONITY to allocate high powered electric vehicle chargers across 10 European countries starting with 80 of its biggest highway stations.
The chargers will take between five to eight minutes to power next generation cars; three times faster than what is currently available.
Shell say the design is the outcome of a growing consumer demand that will bring unprecedented flexibility and confidence to motorists for long distance journeys.
IONITY was created to produce a network of 350KW chargers across Europe’s major highways in a joint venture with BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche.

“Joining forces means combining Shell’s long history and experience in retail with our state-of-the-art technology for fast charging. It will significantly increase the customer satisfaction of EV drivers,” he added.
Shell recently agreed to buy NewMotion, electric charging provider, as part of an initiative for cleaner energy solutions.
