Nominations for the Solar Power Portal Awards 2017 are now open, and this year we bring the energy storage categories under one banner.
This year’s energy storage award recognises installations across all technologies and scales installed in the UK and Ireland after 1 June 2016. Residential, commercial and utility-sized projects will be considered for this award.
Residential projects can be collectively nominated providing systems are installed under any one programme or body of work. Nominations should include project specifics including its application (peak-shaving, grid ancillary services, DSR etc), technology used and any recorded benefits.
Last year’s winners
Storage was recognised for the first time at last year’s Solar Power Portal Awards, and we had three such categories to recognise residential, C&I and utility-scale entrants.
The residential energy storage project was won by Western Power Distribution and Bristol City Council who collaborated on the Sola Bristol project, which helped lift at-risk households out of fuel poverty.
UK Power Networks took home the large-scale energy storage project award for its sterling work on the Leighton Buzzard demonstrator project, which the judging panel agreed stood to pave the way for future projects in the UK.
And Your Group won the commercial energy storage project for its work in Lapubesi, Nepal, which helped provide back-up power to the region in the aftermath of the April 2015 earthquake.
This year nominations will remain open until midnight 31 May 2017 before a three-week judging process takes place.
