SSE has become the latest energy company promising “significantly reduced operating costs” for businesses by offering a new energy performance contract solution.
The utility has said its partnership-based approach will facilitate public, private and third-sector companies to upgrade the energy assets of their buildings, delivering energy savings that can be both estimated and tracked.
Upgrades can include technologies such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment (HVAC), LED lighting, on-site renewables and building energy management systems, which SSE claims can all be installed with attractive payback periods.
While the EPC solution space has become congested with a number of energy companies offering similar services, James Constable, head of EPCs at SSE Enterprise, said the company would set itself apart through both its experience in the market and in-house engineering team.
“Through our experience of successful energy solution partnerships with existing clients, we have a practised understanding of public and private sector needs and expectations when it comes to developing sustainable energy strategies and delivering secure financial savings for the future,” Constable said.
SSE is one of 16 energy companies to have successfully tendered to become a part of the national RE:FIT scheme’s rollout later this year and is also accredited under the Scottish Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency framework.
SSE claimed that typical savings under RE:FIT stood at between 15 and 30%.
