Swarco eVolt has penned a deal with Scottish Golf to provide golf clubs with EV chargers.
The chargepoint supplier has partnered with the governing body for golf in Scotland for the provision of chargers, which will form part of its roll-out of 1,000 and will be supplied with clean electricity by Forev.
Forev will cover the cost of the installations in most cases.
Both 22kW AC chargers and DC 50kW triple outlet chargers will be installed in a 70:30 split. 22kW chargers with and without display screens and contactless functionality are to be used.
The network will also include Swarco eVolt’s latest DC/AC controller and receiver solutions, a multiple charging solution consisting of several charge points controlled by a single unit.
Golf clubs receiving the chargers will benefit from the installs through increased footfall and revenue, due to incidental spending by members and visitors whilst vehicles charge.
The clubs will also see £250 per parking bay donated back into each club’s junior section.
Swarco eVolt is no stranger to rolling out charging infrastructure for destination charging. In 2018, it partnered Engenie to install 400 chargers across sites owned by pub company Marston’s Inns and Taverns.
It is also the chosen chargepoint supplier for Good Energy’s new EV charging solution, One Point, which was launched this week.
Scotland will phase-out conventionally fuelled vehicles by 2032, eight years before England’s 2040 cut off. The new network will support the Scottish government in achieving this target, Forev said.
The Scottish government has made two hefty financial commitments to EV charging of late, with £7.5 million pledged for an infrastructure pilot and £20 million for the deployment of 800 public chargers.
