The UK’s largest electricity supplier, Octopus Energy, has issued a “plea” to the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to “pay people, not power plants”.
The UK’s National Energy System Operator (NESO) control room issued an Electricity Margin Notice (EMN) in the evening of 7 January for the period between 4PM and 7PM on 8 January.
National Grid ESO has called on four of its contingency coal units to warm, as well as issuing an electricity margin notice (EMN), as capacity margins for this evening’s peak look tight.
An Electricity Margin Notice detailing a margin shortfall of 740MW was issued last night (3 November), although National Grid ESO has now said the margin has been restored to an "adequate level".
