Octopus Energy had announced a new partnership with car manufacturer, Stellantis, to offer six of its brands – Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, DS, Jeep and Alfa Romeo – the Octopus electric vehicle (EV) bundle.
The Octopus EV bundle – designed to incentivise the uptake of EVs – includes the smart charging tariff, Intelligent Octopus which, using the Octopus Group’s smart energy platform, KrakenFlex, allows drivers to charge their EVs at times that are best for the system. The tariff also offers a six-hour low cost window between 23:30-05:30 at just 7.5p/kWh.
This smart charging experience – which Octopus said is the UK’s first 100% charging tariff – utilises the Ohme Wallbox charger, which is also included in the package.
The bundle offers a further incentive for new customers through an initial £25 off their bill.
New and existing EV customers from participating Stellantis brands will also be able to use Octopus’ roaming network, Electric Universe, granting them access to over 330,000 chargers across Europe. The network allows drivers to pay for charging using only one card and an app, which Stellantis customers will also have access to.
“Our partnership with Octopus Energy allows us to offer electric vehicle customers greater support and services to enjoy the freedom of driving an EV at home and on the road. We’re pleased to be continuing to provide drivers with access to charging in an affordable, efficient, and environmentally beneficial way with added ease” said Paul Willcox, managing director at Stellantis UK.
Echoing Wilcox’s praise for the partnership Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief product officer at Octopus Energy added: “Transport still accounts for a massive chunk of global emissions, so switching away from old school petrol and diesel cars will be crucial for reaching net zero.
“Going electric is a win-win-win: cleaning up the air we breathe, decarbonising our roads and putting money back in people’s pockets. We are over the moon to be partnering with Stellantis to help make the process of going green as smooth as possible for their customers.”
This is another EV partnership with a car manufacturer for Octopus Energy, following a recent agreement with Vauxhall, amongst other brands.
