NewMotion is adding new names to its roster of partners, this week signing deals with Aldi and Alphabet.
The Shell-owned EV charging firm is to provide chargers for all new Aldi stores, working out at 140 new chargers. There is, however, the potential for more to follow, the duo said.
The 22kW chargers are also to be installed at Aldi’s headquarters in Atherstone, with Aldi to be supported by 24/7 account management. The supermarket giant will also be able to use NewMotion’s online platform, dubbed Business Hub, which can monitor, analyse and control the charging infrastructure.
It offers remote access management, tariff setting, cost allocation, as well as real-time data and insights on the costs of EV fleets and charging infrastructure.
Fritz Walleczek, managing director of corporate responsibility at Aldi UK, said the supermarket is “delighted” to be working with NewMotion due to sustainability being “extremely important” to the company and its customers.
Alongside the Aldi partnership, NewMotion is also collaborating with mobility provider Alphabet to provide its customers with home and workplace charging.
A new smart charging package will be available, with an introductory price of £359 for the first 90 days, rising to £549. It includes consulting, installation, operation of the charge points, back-office management and 24/7 support.
Alan McCleave, UK general manager at NewMotion said he is “very proud” of the partnership with Alphabet, which he said will give Alphabet customers “ease of use and insight” into charging costs.
“Our partnership will make EV charging easier and more accessible for lease drivers all throughout the UK.”
Alphabet has seen a triple digit increase in orders for plug-in vehicles over between March 2019 and March 2020. Its partnership with NewMotion will see its drivers able to access 2,500 public charge points across the UK, with this figure including 800 rapids.
Simon Carr, Alphabet’s chief commercial officer, praised the “shared passion for e-mobility” of the two brands, stating that Alphabet has been “leading the way in leasing electric vehicles for many years now” and is committed to supporting net zero.
