Electric vehicle (EV) software companies Hubject and ev.energy have signed a partnership to help simplify home and public charging.

The partnership will enable users of ev.energy’s home smart charging app and platform to access Hubject’s interchange platform, which is the world’s largest cross-provider charging network according to the companies, with over 270,000 EV charging points.

It will allow EV owners to track and access both home and on-the go charging through the app. Additionally, users will be able to earn rewards for charging on certain networks, and be able to pay for roam charging through their home energy bill if they are with a specific suppliers.

Nick Woolley, CEO of ev. energy, said both companies are on a mission to “simplify charging for electric vehicle owners”.

Hubject’s approach is "highly collaborative, and we share a number of key energy utility and car OEM clients," he added.

"The synergy between our focus on home charging, and Hubject's focus on roaming makes me very excited about what we can deliver together in 2021, and beyond."

The companies first began their cooperation last year, with the two now having a series of activities planned throughout the coming year.

Christian Hahn, CEO Hubject, said that “cooperation is one of the key success factors in eMobility".

“Therefore it’s an excellent opportunity for both companies to join forces and extend each other’s business portfolio to provide a great customer experience.

He added that the partnership is an example of "reducing barriers between companies to work with each other as well as barriers for end customers".

Last year, Hubject expanded its interoperability platform to offer financial settlement services between chargepoint operators and e-mobility service providers, with Enel X chosen to enable this.

This followed Enel X taking a 12.5% stake in the company the year prior.
