Non-domestic electricity prices in the UK have levelled off in the UK, standing at 10.45p/kWh for an average-sized business after rising marginally in Q1, DECC statistics have revealed.
Including the Climate Change Levy, electricity prices Q3 2015 ranged between 13.19p to 9.23p/kWh depending on the size of the business. The average price of 10.45p/kWh remained largely stagnant on Q2’s figure of 10.46p/kWh but was down on the Q1 average of 10.62p.
Prices are still however up by around 1p per kWh on Q1 2013 figures reflecting the upward trend.
Energy intensive industries can however look forward to compensation on renewable levies attached to electricity bills after the government received state aid approval last week.
Compensation will be processed early next year but backdated to 17 December 2015. It will act as an interim measure until an exemption on renewables levies – put forward by chancellor George Osborne during this year’s Autumn Statement – is put into place.
