OVO Energy has hired Dan Burdett as chief customer officer, a newly created role aimed at ensuring customers are supported through the high energy prices.
Joining from Pret A Manger, where he is customer and growth officer, Burdett is also to ensure OVO delivers on its Plan Zero aims, which the company said would mean it “deserves” its customers trust.
Announced in 2020, Plan Zero includes commitments to eliminate OVO’s customer’s household emissions by 2030 and fit five million homes with flexible, clean energy technologies.
“With costs of energy increasing and economic uncertainty backing up against a need to accelerate decarbonisation, the need to bring cheaper, greener, energy to customers will never be a bigger problem for the world to solve, than it is today,” Burdett said.
During his time at Pret A Manger, Burdett led on the transformation of its business model during the COVID-19 pandemic, with this including a shift towards providing food and coffee through new digital and retail channels.
His appointment as chief customer officer follows OVO Energy hiring Raman Bhatia as the new CEO of its retail business in February, taking over from Adrian Letts.
