OVO Energy has appointed Alex Doorey as VP of corporate affairs, with Doorey to be responsible for public affairs, policy, media relations and sustainability.
“We are delighted to have Alex join us, bringing a wealth of experience at a time when engaging the public on issues including cost of living and climate change has never been more paramount to our customers,” said OVO CEO Raman Bhatia, who was appointed CEO of the retail business in February, taking over from Adrian Letts.
Doorey is to join OVO in the autumn from Virgin Media O2, where she was first appointed head of external communications in 2019 before moving into an expanded role in 2021.
Doorey also has experience in journalism, front line government media relations and communications for major consumer brands.
Her appointment follows OVO hiring Dan Burdett, who is to join in July as chief customer officer, with this being a newly created role aimed at ensuring customers are supported through the high energy prices.
Earlier this month, OVO announced a new partnership with Cornwall Council to retrofit 400 poorly insulated homes with measures such as solar and heat pump, with this coming as many in the industry tout energy efficiency as part of the solution to high household energy bills.
