The next Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) test will take place this evening (23 December), with National Grid ESO putting out a call for 100MW per half an hour.
It is set to run from 17:30-18:30 and will be the seventh test since the service was launched in November.
The sixth test was held on Wednesday, with the operator also calling from 100MW per half an hour over the evening peak. These represent the smallest tests to the DFS so far.
Over 780MWh of real and projected demand reduction has been provided over the first five DFS tests, which have run on 15 November, 22 November, 30 November,1 December and 12 December.
According to National Grid ESO’s findings, the first two DFS tests saw customers overdeliver by at least 35%.
There are now 26 providers of DFS, up from just four during the first test back in November.
National Grid ESO will continue to run tests between now and March, with at least two tests a month.
