Installations of smart meters in January increased 24% year-on-year in Britain, but are still down 25% from pre-pandemic levels of January 2020.
According to figures from ElectraLink, 185,000 installations were realised this January and has now reached a total of 17.41 million since the beginning of the programme.
East England installed the most last January with 24,000 and is now at 2.09 million in total. Southern England followed with 21,000 installs in January and a total of 1.76 million and the third most installations last month was the East Midlands with 19,000 and 1.78 million in total.
Last year’s numbers managed to recover from the pandemic with 2.417 million installations throughout the year, up from 1.997 million in 2020.
